Whois Privacy Protection, occasionally also referred to as Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the actual contact details of domain name registrants on WHOIS sites. Without this service, the personal name, postal address and email of any domain owner will be publicly available. Providing fake information during the registration process or changing the genuine information at a later time will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing their ownership of the domain. The policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS information must be correct and up to date all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain registrars as an answer to the growing concerns for potential identity fraud. If the service is activated, the registrar company’s contact information will be shown instead of the client’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are some country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you order a cloud hosting package from us, you’ll be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names if their extensions support this option. You can register/transfer a domain and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the account activation process or you can enable the service for any of your domains at any moment afterwards through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The process is amazingly easy – after you sign in, you will have to visit the Registered Domains section where you’ll notice a list of all the domains that you have registered through our company. For each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, which will show you if the service is active or not. By clicking it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you wish to hide the contact information associated with your domain and you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will be able to activate our Whois Privacy Protection service either during the account order procedure or at any time later through our Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The service is optional and can be added with a couple of mouse clicks from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domain names that you have registered with our company will be displayed alphabetically. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of the top-level domain name extensions that support the service by simply clicking on the “Whois Privacy Protection” logo on the right-hand side of each domain name. In the exact same manner, you can also renew the Whois Privacy Protection service or shut it off – in case you would like to transfer a domain name to a different domain name registrar and you need the actual mailbox associated with the domain to be visible.
